Title: Associate Consultant (Innovation Grants)
Office Location: 88 Leadenhall Street, London, EC3A 3BP
Reports to: Senior Manager, Grants
Working hours: 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday standard working hours, dependent on client demands.
Main purpose of the job:
Ayming’s grants team write engaging and rigorous applications that enable their clients to innovate for the future
The Associate Consultant will contribute to the writing of innovation grant applications. This will involve supporting client meetings to gather necessary information and converting that information into a project proposal customised to suit specific funder criteria.
Additionally, Associate Consultants will be expected to maintain excellent client relationships across a portfolio of UK businesses. They will support client workshops to define a list of key innovation priorities and then scout the market for grant opportunities that relate to these.
This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly-growing grants team within a leading innovation consultancy.
The Associate Consultant will have the following responsibilities:
- Meeting with clients/targets at all stages of the sales and grant application process
- Scouting new grants opportunities and interpreting their fit in relation to defined client priorities.
- Contribute to writing high-quality grant applications
- Using clear, compelling language to convince a reader about the quality of an innovation
- Explaining the technical aspects of the innovation and its difference from existing approaches
- Presenting project plans and risk registers with rigour and detail
- Grasping the client’s business model, including the innovation’s market opportunity and revenue projections
Skills and personal qualities:
- Excellent verbal communication skills, clarity in writing on complex topics, manages time effectively (sometimes within limited constraints), works well with others in a team.
- Independent, hard worker, motivated, willing to travel, good interpersonal skills.
- We are looking for candidates that combine a flair for science with a love of writing.
- We are particularly interested in Associate Consultants with degrees in any aspect of the Physical Sciences, such as
- Physics
- Materials Science
- Engineering (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical)
Experience requirements:
- Individuals with less than 2 years relevant professional experience, including fresh graduates, are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent academic record, including some experience of independent research
- MSc/PhD: desirable but not essential
