Introducing LaP

Letting a Property (LaP), operating as lettingaproperty.com, was founded in 2008 with a mission to revolutionise the rental market through fast, online letting services. Their platform is designed to simplify the letting process for both tenants and landlords, offering a seamless experience from start to finish. As leaders in the PropTech sector, LaP and its team of almost 30 dedicated professionals are committed to continuous innovation, bringing new services and solutions to the market to meet evolving client needs.

A strategic partnership initiated by Mercia Ventures

LaP’s journey with Ayming began through an introduction by one of its venture capital investors, Mercia Ventures. Prior to this, LaP had relied on their accountant for R&D tax claims. However, due to HMRC’s increased scrutiny of claims, their accountant was no longer willing to assist with Tech R&D claims. Recognising the need for a specialist R&D tax advisor, LaP partnered with Ayming for their 2022 claim.

“We are grateful to Mercia Ventures for introducing us to Ayming. The Ayming team’s exceptional professionalism and unwavering commitment were crucial in facilitating this successful process.”

Our expertise, unmatched

Ayming’s expertise proved invaluable. The team impressed LaP with their deep technical knowledge and their ability to conduct thorough technical interviews. These interviews helped uncover additional qualifying projects and activities. Moreover, Ayming’s meticulous analysis of LaP’s P&L and balance sheet ensured that all eligible costs were identified, leading to the discovery of additional relief.

Innovative technology to improve communication, performance, and security

In FY22, LaP’s primary innovation project focused on significantly enhancing their platform’s capabilities and functionalities. This included a range of R&D activities aimed at integrating various third-party systems to improve communication, performance, and security, thereby offering better support to landlords and tenants. The challenging integrations were successfully achieved, marking a notable advancement in LaP’s service offerings.

The benefit

The FY2022 R&D claim was processed efficiently, with Ayming delivering results within six weeks. The claim identified almost £370k of Qualifying Expenditure, resulting in a substantial 6-figure benefit. Impressed by the results, LaP has already engaged Ayming to handle its 2023 and 2024 R&D claims.
